WEBINAR – Life after GDPR: Getting control of your data

WEBINAR – Life after GDPR: Getting control of your data

13th June 2018

From GDPR Compliance to Business Intelligence, your data is the lifeblood of your organisation. Your staff may come and go, your processes and systems will constantly change, and all the while your data steadily accumulates; as do the potential risks and opportunities in an increasingly complex data driven society. The arrival of GDPR also taught us that we haven't been managing our data well enough. We've been inconsistent, we haven't valued our information assets properly and, generally, most of us have misunderstood their potential. Our experience at Adapta is that most organisations are missing out on the opportunity to build a strategic approach to data governance. In this session we discussed how a Data Governance Framework helps you manage your data environment and maximise its potential.

IoF Technology Conference - Choosing the future

IoF Technology Conference - Choosing the future

8th June 2018

Recent advances in information systems technology have raised supporter expectations as well as enabling charities to meet them. Larger charities are leading the way with investment in CRM systems that can integrate with marketing automation and artificial intelligence tools as well as with some of the more established digital products. Christian Aid used a "Benefits Mapping" technique to establish the business case for what was going to be more than a new fundraising system and then employed a combination of "Business Process Mapping" and "Proof of Concept" / "Prototyping" as key elements in the supplier selection process. This session explained those techniques and explored how the outputs helped Christian Aid make the right choices for their organisation.

Systems Integration and cake

Systems Integration and cake

24th May 2018

With digital marketing and digital fundraising, organisations can no longer expect just one system to be able to manage their relationships with supporters or members – so systems integration is becoming increasingly unavoidable. Sadly, systems integration is a topic where the opportunity for confusion and conflicting advice is considerable. At this workshop we discussed why you should consider integrating your systems and the symptoms to watch out for. We explored what types of system integration are commonly required, and provided a high-level overview of some of the various methods and technology tools required for systems integration.

Information Systems planning and cake

24th January 2018

Information systems have never been able to deliver more than they do today; but, to maximise the potential, you need an integrated approach that will align your investment in technology with your organisation's strategic and operational priorities. Information systems are only useful insofar as they meet your organisation's needs; so it's critical to be clear from the start about your objectives. Planning is the key! In this session, we looked at different approaches to information systems planning; how to use Theory of Change to identify the scope and implications of possible new systems and the best way to align technology to business processes. Plus, we heard from organisations that have worked through the planning process themselves.

22nd November 2017

Not so long ago it was really quite difficult to steal corporate information, adopt someone else's identity or undermine the public perception of an organisation or an individual. In this session we discussed the pre-requisites for safeguarding data, and the measures that should be taken to ensure security remains robust and effective in meeting the challenges we face.

True costs and cake

True costs and cake

17 May 2016

IT projects have a poor reputation when it comes to cost. Very few complete on budget and, for those that do, it's often at the expense of scope or quality. In most cases the problem starts at the very beginning – with an under-appreciation of the true cost of IT procurement and implementation. In this session we heard from Alexis Chapman and Jo Knowles who shared their experiences of completing IT projects within scope and budget and offered tips and thoughts on getting to realistic budget that reflect the true cost of change.
