David Lyon FCCA has over twenty years' experience working in the third sector as a finance director, sometimes in interim positions, and his brief has often extended to cover IT (among other things).
David has a passion to improve organisational efficiency and relishes working with teams embarking on programmes of organisational transformation, even when financial resources are limited.
David's particular experience is in accounting systems, and can advise on all aspects of systems, refresh or replace decisions, selecting and implementing a new system, and the change management challenges that inevitably ensue.
David also has expertise in broad organisational IT strategy, ensuring that the broad spectrum of applications work together seamlessly, and that the infrastructure is sustainable and resilient, with a particular focus on cyber security and data protection.
His experience ranges from small volunteer-led charities to much larger and complex organisations, and his employers / clients include The Mental Health Foundation, Alcohol Change, Morden College, and most recently Shakespeare's Globe, where he led a change of accounting system in the middle of the 2020 closure.
Having also served terms on the boards of Borough Market and the Forces in Mind Trust, David is particularly alive to trustees' concerns for good governance, risk management. and accurate and timely reporting.
